Perfect host: Why you should consider hosting your event in Glasgow

Ah Glasgow – our kinda town (which is just as well, since we live here). Stand Out Magazine seems to have a wee soft spot for ‘The Weeg’ as well, as illustrated by this most excellent article.

In it, they interview the good people at Glasgow Life to discuss why live event organisers should embrace our Dear Green Place.

From hosting major sporting events such as the recent UCI World Cycling Championships, to being voted one of the top five city breaks in the world by Time Out Magazine, Glasgow has truly evolved into a global icon and a cosmopolitan city fit to host any event.

Mastering Exhibitions: A Guide To Impactful Before & After Event Strategies

In a recent guest post for EPN Journal, Jack Saward, the founder of Saward Marketing and Events shares his top strategies for exhibitors, with a focus on event lead up, and the important actions you need to take afterwards.

Jack walks us through his entire process, from pre-event anticipation building to post-event evaluation. Useful, informative and insightful. Thanks Jack!

Scottish Event Campus (SEC) strengthens board with two appointments

The SEC (Scottish Event Campus) has appointed Jonathan Kemp from AG Barr and Vivien Currie of The Merchant House to its board.

Jonathan Kemp, AG Barr’s commercial director, has held positions as a researcher at the House of Commons and gained experience with brands like IRN-BRU and Rubicon. He also teaches a course on “brand building” to senior marketing students at the University of Strathclyde.

Currie serves as a director of social enterprise The Merchants House of Glasgow and equestrian centre The Royal Stables in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

She said: “The SEC is a business I have known and admired for some time, so I’m delighted to take a seat on the board to help further the organisational goals set out by Peter Duthie and his team.”

Big congrats to both!

The Empire (State Building) strikes back with projection

And finally, for all you Star Wars fans (like us) – a projection mapping show by Industrial Light & Magic saw the New York building’s facade lit up with classic moments from the Star Wars films and new visual effects.

The five-minute sequence saw the building’s art deco facade lit up with classic moments from the sci-fi films and new visual effects.

The projectors were provided by Panasonic North America, with the content created by Lucasfilm’s visual-effects house, Industrial Light & Magic (ILM). Show Imaging was responsible for the AV set-up.

The event marked the start of the March to May the 4th campaign, which will see the launch of a range of products including toys, clothing, accessories and collectables.

Impressive. Most impressive.

And that’s us for another week.

Enjoy your Easter break y’all, and don’t forget to capture the magic of the season with those wonderful shots of your kids with the Easter Bunny….
