Time to rethink the exhibitor experience

In a recent article in Exhibition News, FFAIR CEO and exhibition industry technology veteran Adam Jones argues that exhibition organisers must work harder to make exhibiting easier for the sake of its future.

Adam states that it’s time to shift our focus towards retaining exhibitors who have remained committed to investing in their marketing budgets, and to cultivate them as advocates for exhibitions, leveraging their support to attract or re-attract new exhibitors.

Notorious Glasgow Willy Wonka Experience set for shock return in America as viral Oompa Loompa signed up

It’s the worldwide phenomenon that just refuses to go away. In some frankly astonishing news, the infamous Glasgow Willy Wonka Experience is set for a shock return – in the US – and will see local girl Kirsty Paterson recreate her role across the pond.

Plans for the notorious event in downtown LA are said to involve comedy star Zach Galifianakis as well as Kirsty, 29, who became an internet sensation for her stint as a miserable Oompa Loompa at the wonky Wonka carnival in the city.

The event is said to be taking place on Sunday April 28.

Kirsty, who flies out to California next week, told The Daily Record, “I didn’t really expect to end up in the USA or to go as big as this because the USA is on a different level.

“I’ve not been to America before. As a trained actor it’s really exciting for me to go over there.

“I’m doing a lot of meetings and a lot of networking out there. As a trained actress it’s not an impossibility that I’ll be doing movies.

“When I was a kid I always said my dream job would be a children’s TV presenter and that’s now a possibility.”

Beyond greenwashing: Real sustainability progress in brand experiences

Rachel Russell, Senior Strategist, George P. Johnson UK, writes an article for Event Industry News, which argues that we are now seeing real and impressive momentum in sustainability across the brand experience industry.

From planning for the end-of-event life at the start of events, to the embracing of data and collaboration, Rachel is confident that although the events industry still has some way to go, we should also be proud to recognise some progress and be optimistic about sustainability in the future of events.

The Scotch Whisky Experience becomes the first whisky attraction in Scotland to win dual green tourism awards

The Scotch Whisky Experience on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile proudly raise a glass as they achieve two Green Tourism Awards in recognition of the steps they have taken as a business to put sustainability at the forefront of strategy.

The result of this approach; The Scotch Whisky Experience are the first whisky attraction in Scotland to receive both the Green Tourism and Green Meeting Gold Awards. This accreditation highlights The Scotch Whisky Experience’s ongoing efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and to provide visitors with an immersive experience while striving to be as sustainable as possible.

Demonstrating the importance of sustainability for business growth, The Scotch Whisky Experience has also been awarded the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce High Growth Business of the Year Award 2024.

Massive congrats to everyone involved!

Immerse yourself in the future of art

And finally, at Cameron Events HQ we’re always keeping our collective ears to the ground regarding new and emerging creative disciplines. All hail immersive art, which straddles the boundaries of multi-discipline artistic experiences across ALL the senses.

As an example, the above is and example currently in Hong Kong which features hundreds of luminous ovoids that dynamically change colours in response to visitor interactions. This captivating display, accompanied by the illuminated trees, promises to be a fun and engaging experience.

Beautiful, original, surprising and completely unique, we expect to see much more of this popping up in cities (and events) in the near future.

And that’s yer lot!

Back soon for another hefty doze of events news….
